I am currently in the Bachelor of Communication (Hons) programme, and I have never encountered any difficulties as an international student here in KDU University College. KDU made it easy for me to adapt. With experienced lecturers and great facilities, not only does KDU offer quality education, but also real world experience as practical projects are part and parcel of our programme.

I have also been able to strike up many precious friendships and participate in so many activities organised by the school, which has made my university life so enjoyable. I am thankful that I chose KDU University College because I feel that it’s helping me to grow intellectually and culturally, and giving me the necessary skills needed to be successful in the working world.

The journey in Pre-U in KDUUC although short, was definitely a memorable experience.

Meeting new friends, experiencing different lecture methodology and the comprehensive facilities provided in the campus have totally enhanced the well structured academic system.

KDU has offered me so much in terms of education and character building. Back when I first enrolled, I was an introvert who only spoke when needed. However, looking at my character now, you would not be convinced, and this is all due to the friends I’ve made here. My lecturers in KDU were nowhere near my expectations – but in a really good way. They were very engaging and approachable. I was taught with the utmost care and patience.

My journey in KDU has been a great one, which I will truly cherish and reminisce. Regardless of what grades you achieve, do not think that it is the end of the road as success can still be achieved by myriad ways. Each of us have different capabilities and uniqueness, which leads us to make our own marks. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”

I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, that my studies in KDU was worth it because of the people I met. Lecturers and students who made an impact on me far greater than any textbook could have. I met a lecturer who drove all the way to KDU on a Sunday to help me and my friends with History. I met a lecturer who not only taught Literature but helped me to cultivate a real love for great writing. I met an ex-KDU student who took the trouble to drop by KDU numerous times during her summer break to help some of us in our revision. I met a lecturer who was cool enough to invite her Economics class to go over to her place for CNY. And the list goes on.

In the end, your grades will shape your career. But meeting such people will shape your personality, spur you on to be more determined, more passionate in your work and more compassionate in your friendships - and that’s why KDU remains a special place for me.

The UNSW Foundation programme in KDU College is perhaps my most enjoyable education experience so far. This programme is quite challenging due to the one-year duration, but it is this challenge that has allowed me to achieve marks I have never achieved before. KDU has treated me very well from the moment I signed up for this programme, and this extends to the lecturers as well. Despite my frequent, and sometimes off-topic, enquiries, they never fail to answer most, if not all, of my questions and address my concerns regardless of the subject matter.

The friends I have made here is, without a doubt, the best part of this experience. I have never met such kind, understanding, considerate people who always think about the needs and wants of others before their own, and for that, I am extremely grateful to have been in this programme.

My one and a half year journey of doing the UNSW Foundation Studies programme has been remarkable as this programme has prepared me to be in good shape before entering my degree course in UNSW. Certainly, this programme is completely different from my previous high school experience as things were much harder to cope with. However, there are definitely parts that I enjoyed the most in this programme, which were actually the lecturers and the programme management.

Instead of merely requiring students to memorise concepts and details like how it was done back in high school, this programme mostly tested us on how we, as students, applied our knowledge in conducting experiments and completing our challenging coursework. I believe that the knowledge that I have gained in this programme is crucial in order for me to excel when I pursue my degree programme in UNSW. Last but not least, I would like to highlight how this programme has helped me to be more independent and brought out the best in me.

Doing the A-Levels in KDU University College is a really interesting experience in the best way possible. I was blessed to have top-notch lecturers and awesome course mates, without whom I probably wouldn’t have been able to get through (not in one coherent piece anyway).

The lecturers are really amazing people, and ever ready to impart their knowledge, very often, going the extra mile for theirs students.

It was indeed a great pleasure to have had the opportunity to learn under the guidance of KDU’s team of dedicated and caring lecturers. The close interaction with them in class and their endless patience in answering my questions have certainly made my learning experience a very memorable and interesting one. I must say that KDU teachers are indeed a passionate lot and I cannot thank them enough for their contribution to my success in A Level.

The foundation that I have formed at KDU has certainly made my transition to university rather seamless. This fortunately gives me time to pursue my interests and also to explore new hobbies. I am currently learning German and am getting hooked on punting down the River Cam during the weekends when the weather permits!

To all the current students of KDU, I wish you all the best in your studies. A Levels can be challenging, but with the close-knit family in KDU, believe me, you are in good and capable hands!

I spent two years studying American Degree Program in KDU University College and I have absolutely enjoyed my journey in ADP as I have learned a lot from my lecturers and peers.

I love that my lecturers were always attentive and helpful toward my needs. If I had a favorite lecturer, it would be Mr Sina Azinfar. He was my English teacher during my first semester. I have learned how to step out of my comfort zone from him and that is essential.

All in all, KDU University College is the place for you to acquire quality education. I have transferred to University of New York to continue my degree program.

Besides, securing a position as a secretary in ADP self inclusive club has further honed my leadership and paperwork management skills, profoundly. With the flexible class schedule, I have more room to groom myself with my personal interests and have sufficient time to explore more educational fields.

I believe the experience with KDU ADP has facilitated my growth in a fun yet reflective way. I have transferred to Iowa State University for Fall 2013 semester majoring in Biology.

My time at KDU ADP has been a life transforming experience. Everything was carefully and strategically put in place for me to ease my transition into the U.S study culture. Academically, I had experienced and friendly lecturers whose guidance made me become an independent critical thinker which has been a valuable virtue to me studying in the U.S and also a wonderful ADP head at my beck and call who resolved any confusions I had with my courses and how they transfer.

Also there were several fun filled extracurricular activities ranging from fund raising activities like car wash and movie weeks and also American Holiday Celebrations like Halloween and American Independence day which I actively took part in organizing. This helped in boosting my organizational and people skills which been valuable in helping me to integrate quickly and smoothly my transfer to Western Michigan University majoring in Biology.

Overall, KDU ADP has been a fun learning experience for me. I have made lifelong friends both of fellow students and of lecturers.

When I enrolled in KDU back in 2001, admittedly it was a decision based on the location of the College. At that time, the college was a stone’s throw away from where I lived and it was therefore an easy choice to pick the closest college to me. However, upon starting the classes in the college, I knew I had picked the right place.

I enjoyed the fact that the lecturers knew us by our names and took the time to teach us. Many law schools at that time were churning out graduates, who were told to memorise and regurgitate facts. But KDU taught us individualism. Each and every one of us had a dierent approach to law and how we apply the legal knowledge we have learnt to our assignments. This foundation at KDU was what pushed me to pursue criminal litigation upon completing my pupillage. I enjoyed the challenge practising criminal litigation and was not swayed to follow the “flow” of my peers who were chasing their own legal dream. It was the same sense of adventure and challenge imbued by my time in KDU that saw me leaving criminal litigation for a career in Arbitration.

I am now heading the Legal Services Division at the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre of Arbitration. I have been lucky that the trusty “neighbourhood” college that I picked back in 2001 has given me everything that I ever wanted in my legal education. I have also made friends with both course mates and lecturer, many of whom remain my close friends today.

Inspiration is right around the corner at KDU, where learning is not limited to the classroom. I drew strength and conviction from my lecturers, who shared their wealth of academic knowledge as well as their invaluable professional experiences. This helped me to mentally prepare for the highly demanding and challenging life of being a lawyer.

At KDU, learning is not just about studying. It is also about building up on your skills and talents. I had the opportunity to participate in various debate and moot competitions during which I was trained to construct sound legal arguments and to prepare strong bundles of paperwork. It trained me to think on my feet, to work fast and always be prepared. As a result of this, today, as a State Attorney at the Attorney General’s Office of the Maldives, I still use many of the skills and lessons I learnt during the OBU Program.

I made invaluable connections at KDU and some of my fellow classmates now work at top tier law firms around the world. I continue to work with them today just as we did during our time as students, through deadline rushes and all-nighters to submit assignments. I am proud of being part of the multi-talented and diverse KDU alumni.

MY INSPIRATION
Pursuing an accounting career has always been my ambition since I was young. Growing up surrounded by accountants took my interest towards accountancy
to the next level. Seeing my cousins and friends completing accountancy qualifications and earning well besides leading a great life has inspired me even more and made me realised that studying accountancy is the best gift I could ever give myself.

THE WISE DECISION
Knowing that I am keen in studying accountancy, choosing the right accountancy qualification was a challenge since I was surrounded by accountants that belonged to different bodies. However, I made up my mind that I was not going to pursue any ordinary accountancy qualification, but rather a globally recognised professional accountancy qualification. ACCA suited these characteristics, as it is one of the leading professional accountancy bodies in the world and has been established for over 100 years. Studying ACCA was a wise decision as it prepared me and mentally stimulated me in various aspects, for example, finance, auditing, taxation, corporate governance, ethics and many more.

THE RIGHT PLACE TO BE
Choosing the right accountancy qualification is only one part, the second most important part is to decide where to pursue the ACCA qualification. I had a few choices, but I chose KDU College. This is because the group of students in a classroom for every subject is not too big, but just the right number where students are able to pay attention better. The lecturers are also very friendly, approachable and helpful to the extent that they are willing to spend extra time outside their normal teaching hours to clear students’ doubts. Their excellent coaching and dedication towards lecturing were unquestionable. Besides that, KDU staff are also very kind and are ever ready to lend a helping hand when students need help.

WORDS OF ADVICE
My fellow ACCA friends, ACCA can be said to be a crazy rollercoaster ride with never ending studying and exams. Therefore, rather than worrying and mumbling, we should learn to enjoy the ride. You will start to enjoy the ride when you follow the 4Ps: Perfect Timing, Practice, Perseverance and Positive Affirmations. Perfect Timing means starting your revisions at a particular time, where you know you are fully prepared for the exams at the end of the revision period. This may be different for each individual. Practice simply means practising past year questions or the revision kit questions as much as possible. Perseverance is that you must always stick to your study plan and discipline yourself by strictly following it. Lastly, it is Positive Affirmations. Always tell yourself that you can do it and you will do it no matter what obstacles that may arise. You must first have the confidence in yourself before others do so. As the saying goes, “The most certain way of not failing is to be determined to succeed.”

There are several reasons why I like this English course. The main reason is because this course helped me a lot in my studies. For example, I had difficulties in writing essays but after completing the course, I no longer have any trouble doing so. In addition, I can feel the love and care among the lecturers and students.

Although most of the students come from different countries, we could work very well together and learn from each other. During the few months I spent in the English course, I not only learnt about English but I also learnt about the cultures of other countries from my friends. All lecturers were friendly and very patient when teaching us.

Thinking about the English course in KDU brings back all those good memories that I will never forget. Malaysia is the first country where I spent almost 2 years abroad. It was a wonderful journey in my life.

Malaysians were so kind to me and I felt safe there. When I think of Malaysia, most of the good memories are connected with the English course in KDU. The teachers who teach their students from their hearts are the main reason for this.

They also help and encourage their students to improve not just their English but also their character. My teachers gave me all kinds of opportunities to grow as a person. One day, I want to go back to Malaysia just to meet my wonderful English teachers again.

With their help, my English improved very quickly. I certainly made the right choice in choosing to study in KDU.
